Bridge Work
Bruce at Morgan County communicated that prep-work for the asphalt related to the bridge will begin today.  As such, the bridge will be closed during the day(s).  Prep-work is expected to last until Wednesday (possibly Thursday) as long as the weather cooperates.  Again, these are daytime outages only; it will be open at night.

Asphalt will be put down June 8th and 9th where again the bridge will be closed during the daytime hours only.  Bruce also relayed that they are also doing some patch work on the little bridge up the road by the farmhouse.  Please watch your speed.  Approach both bridges slowly.

Did You Know
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.  The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service.  It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season.

On Memorial Day, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.

The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
