One would think that this would go without saying but, here it is… PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAMPFIRES UNATTENDED. The entire Village thanks you in advance!
The 2016 JLPOA Board understands that we have experienced extremely wet weather to date. We’ve all been been having a hard time keeping up with the weeds.
We have refrained from sending out “Lot Cleanup Letters” thus far but, after Memorial Day weekend, the JLPOA Board will need to start sending out letters to those who have not taken care of their lots. Please be mindful of your neighbors and get your lot cleaned up.
The June 2016 Board Meeting has been cancelled. If you have something to discuss with the JLPOA Board that cannot wait until the next scheduled board meeting, please contact us via the ‘2016 Board Contact Info‘ section of the JLPOA Website.
Margaret Journey and Steve Journey Jr (Lots 82-83), our in-house fireworks experts, are reaching out to the larger JLPOA community to help with their funding this year due to liability costs associated with a business that they have formed. As such, Margaret created a GoFundMe page. If you enjoy the fireworks and their art, please consider donating to their cause! Donating is incredibly easy! Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868, when the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Union veterans founded in Decatur, Illinois, established it as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. By the 20th century, competing Union and Confederate holiday traditions, celebrated on different days, had merged, and Memorial Day eventually extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season.
