Lot Cleanup
The 2016 JLPOA Board understands that we have experienced extremely wet weather to date.  We’ve all been been having a hard time keeping up with the weeds.

We have refrained from sending out “Lot Cleanup Letters” thus far but, after Memorial Day weekend, the JLPOA Board will need to start sending out letters to those who have not taken care of their lots.  Please be mindful of your neighbors and get your lot cleaned up.

Fireworks – GoFundMe
Margaret Journey and Steve Journey Jr (Lots 82-83), our in-house fireworks experts, are reaching out to the larger JLPOA community to help with their funding this year due to liability costs associated with a business that they have formed.  As such, Margaret created a
 GoFundMe page.  If you enjoy the fireworks and their art, please consider donating to their cause!  Donating is incredibly easy!  Simply click the following link – https://www.gofundme.com/jlpoa2016fireworks

Did You Know…
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.  The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868, when the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Union veterans founded in Decatur, Illinois, established it as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers.  By the 20th century, competing Union and Confederate holiday traditions, celebrated on different days, had merged, and Memorial Day eventually extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service.  It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season.

Fire Ban

Picture

According to Jim Crone, Morgan County Sheriff, a Red Flag WARNING is in effect for Morgan County for WEDNESDAY, March 2nd 2016 from 11 am until 7 pm.
There is to be NO open burning when a Red Flag WARNING is in effect. This includes the burning of any trash, yard waste or property clean-up, irrigation ditches, fields, fireworks or any other open fires or burning.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 7 PM MST WEDNESDAY. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* TIMING…11 AM THROUGH 7 PM WEDNESDAY.
* WINDS…NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…AS LOW AS 14 PERCENT.
* IMPACTS…STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS COMBINED WITH DRY FUELS AND LOWER HUMIDITY READINGS WILL CREATE CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR RAPID GRASSLAND FIRE GROWTH. ANY FIRE STARTS MAY QUICKLY ESCAPE CONTROL MEASURES DUE TO THE STRENGTH OF THE GUSTY WINDS. DO NOT BURN ON WEDNESDAY.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW OR WILL OCCUR SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS…LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES…AND DRY FUELS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR. IF A FIRE IS STARTED OR ONGOING THE POTENTIAL FOR IT TO RAPIDLY SPREAD IS HIGH.
